The Squam Kit is a collaboration between Oysters and Purls and Woodsy and Wild. Shannon makes beautiful hand-sewn project bags, and she also happens to be my friend and Squam roommate!
We met on Instagram back in the winter of 2017, while test knitting the same project. We tried to meet each other in person during the summer, but didn't actually make that happen until Rhinebeck. During our brief encounter (literally standing in the way of a thousand people, discussing all things knitting), we talked about going to Squam. So, when it came to applying for Squam, we knew we had to apply as roommates! Once that was set, we applied to be vendors at the Spring Art Fair and were so thrilled to get in. All of this, of course, called for a collaboration! So, I dyed the fabric and the yarn, Shannon sewed her signature Birch Bags with the naturally dyed linen, and voila!
We decided to go for two naturally dyed classics: indigo and madder. I used the same dye vat/bath for the yarns as the fabrics, wasting as little as possible. And I couldn't be happier with the results!
Each kit contains:
1 100g skein of our 50% BFL / 50% Merino yarn
1 Birch Bag
